Cake:
1 cup mashed bananas
¾ cup buttermilk (or sour milk)
½ cup shortening
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/4 c flour
1 1/2 c sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking pwd
1tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt

Frosting:
1 stick butter.
4 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp milk

Preheat oven to 350º

Combine first 5 ingredients and set aside. Combine remaining dry ingredients and then add to wet ingredients. Pour into: 2 greased round pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or a 9x13 pan and bake for 35 minutes. Cool prior to frosting.

For frosting heat butter over medium heat till browned. Remove from heat, add powdered sugar and milk and beat with electric mixer on low till combined. Beat on med-high. adding additional milk till spreading consistency.
