5 quarts navy beans
5 lbs salt pork
10 medium onions
1 Tbsp dry mustard
6 c molasses
3 Tbsp salt
1 1/2 tsp coarse ground pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Soak beans overnight. Next day, simmer in the same water until tender. Drain off liquid, reserving liquid.
In a 10 quart roaster or a large bean pot, layer the beans, salt pork, and sliced onions.
Combine molasses, mustard, salt, and pepper with reserved bean liquid.
Pour over beans and bake covered in 300º oven for 8 or 9 hours.
Reduce cooking time for moister beans, increase for drier.

From Bruce Bishop, Sr.: Grandma Bishop made these every Friday along with doughnuts on her old wood burning range. She had a gaggle of grandchildren who would visit her every Friday after school.
