1 cup sugar
1 cup shortening
1 tsp baking soda
2 tablespoons milk
2 extra large eggs
1 ½ tablespoons vanilla
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon red food color

Directions:
Directions:
Using mixer, combine sugar and shortening. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix the baking soda in 2 tablespoons of milk. Add 1 cup of flour. Add the soda, milk mixture to the dough and then the rest of the flour. Divide dough in half and add food coloring to one of the halves. Wrap each half
In wax paper and refrigerate overnight. Remove dough from refrigerator. Roll the plain dough out to 1/4 inch thickness. Roll the red dough to 1/4 inch thickness and place
On top of the plain dough. Roll the doughs up into a roll
Beginning with the long side. Wrap roll in wax paper. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Spray cookie sheet with mom-stick spray. Preheat the oven to 350. Remove the dough from refrigerator and cut 1/4 inch slices And place
On cookie sheet. Bake At 350 until done. If you like the cookies crisp bake until slightly brown otherwise bake the cookies until set.
