Gift boxes from home would contain soap, socks, and often gingerbread.
1 Tbsp. of butter
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup butter
1 1/4 cups of molasses
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. allspice
1 cup very hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Get your oven to 350º and grease a 9" square baking pan with butter.
In a large mixing bowl combine flour,soda,and spices and cut in softened butter into flour mixture with a fork.
Add liquid ingredients to dry ingredients and stir well
Pour batter into baking pan and bake for 35 to 40 min. or until toothpick comes out clean.
Makes 9 servings and a lot of smiles
