2/3 cup water
1/4 cup butter
2 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
3 1/2 cups flour
3 tablespoons powered milk
1 1/2 teaspoons rapid rising yeast (3/4 of a single packet)
1/2 cup yellow raisins

Optional:
Slivered almonds

1 egg yolk and 2 teaspoons water

Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Mix wet ingredients in a bowl. Mix wet into dry. Mix until a ball forms.

Kneed dough until no longer sticky.

Divide into 6 equal pieces. Role into strips that are fatter in the middle than at the ends.

Braid the 6 strips and tuck the ends under to form a loaf.

Place onto a lightly greased cookie sheet. Cover with a dish towel to rise, about 30 minutes.

Beat 1 egg yolk and 2 teaspoons water and brush loaves before baking, this will make them a golden brown.

Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.

To test if bread is done, take a pot holder and turn over a loaf, with other hand knock on loaf if it sounds hollow the loaf is done.
