1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1½ tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
½ cup margarine
½ cup shortening
3½ cups flour
1 tsp cream of tartar

Directions:
Beat sugar, margarine and shortening together. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well in between. Add the remaining ingredients. Beat well. Chill 1 hour. Heat oven to 350º. Cut into favorite shapes. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes. The secret to really yummy sugar cookies is to not over cook. Do not let them brown. You want them soft and delicious. Let cool. Frost with a butter frosting and enjoy.
