6 eggs 12 eggs 1˝ dozen eggs
7/8 cup sugar nearly 2 cups sugar nearly 3 cups sugar
1 qt. milk ˝ gal. milk 3 qts. Milk

Directions:
Directions:
Scald milk first.
Beat eggs with sugar.
Add hot milk while stirring constantly.
Strain mixture, then return to stove and cook and stir until mixture coats spoon.

If cooked at too high a temperature, the mixture will curdle (eggs will cook) and make “bumps!”

I (Carolyn) was shocked to see that Mother had not sent this in for the first Kelly cookbook!!! Pretty sure this was Grandmother Kelly’s recipe!

It is in the original - and I also put in Grandma Whittlesey's version. Aunt Carolee told me it was a must have at Christmas.

So I put in both....
