1 cup butter (not margarine)
1 cup sugar
1 cup chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans)
1 cup chocolate chips (Annie uses the milk chocolate
chips, but semi-sweet work fine)
1 tsp. salt

***Use a wooden spoon!!!
 Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil and butter the foil.
 Sprinkle nuts on buttered foil.
 Combine butter, sugar, and salt in saucepan and cook on medium to medium high heat until light brown, approx. 10-20 minutes.
 Carefully pour cooked mixture over nuts in a thin layer, but try not to work too slowly – toffee hardens quickly.
 Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot toffee.
 Wait a few minutes (5-7) for chips to melt; then spread with spatula. Allow to cool.
 Best stored in refrigerator & lasts for weeks!

My friend, Annie Rose gave me this recipe when we were stationed in Darmstadt, Germany from 1999-2001. She had four kids, age 6 and under, and said she never made anything with more than 4 or 5 ingredients!
