Iceberg lettuce, bite-sized pieces
Green pepper, chopped
Red pepper, chopped
Cauliflower, sliced
Red onion, chopped
1 10 oz pkg. frozen peas, thawed and drained
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
3 tablespoons sugar (or artificial sweetener)
Cheddar cheese, shredded
8 pieces bacon, fried and crumbled

Directions:

Layer in a large pretty clear glass salad bowl or a 13 x 9 dish in this order:

Lettuce

Green pepper

Red pepper

Cauliflower

Red onions

Peas

Mix mayonnaise and sugar and spread over peas.

On top of mayonnaise, layer cheese and bacon.

Refrigerate 12-24 hours.

This makes a gorgeous presentation in a tall, clear salad bowl, but tastes just as good when done in a 13x9 dish. For years, Dirk Russell (Aubrey's husband) didn't think it was really a Warren family gathering without this dish. The mixtures of sweet/salty/smoky and creamy/crunchy as well as the bright color contrasts make this a feast for all the senses!
