Ingredients: 1/3 cup of butter flavoured shortening 1/3 cup of butter or margarine 1 cup of brown sugar ***CHANGED INGREDIENT 1 egg 1 tsp of vanilla extract 1 ¾ cups of flour ½ tsp baking soda ½ tsp of salt 1 cup of chocolate chips

Directions:Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a large bowl, cream together the shortening, butter, and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and stir vanilla. In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. Stir into creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Use a measuring tablespoon to form dough into balls. Place onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake 10-12 minutes. Cool a few minutes before removing from baking sheet Enjoy! |

Notes: I made this change because when we did this lab in class and had tried all the different versions of cookies the cookie with all brown sugar really stood out to me and I really liked it. I found that you could tell a big difference in how much better the taste had gotten by making the substitution. That is why I had made this substitution in the recipe. Given I am the worlds biggest lover of chocolate chip cookies, this small change can make a huge difference in the taste and quality of the cookie.
