1 cup Crisco© Butter flavor all-vegetable shortening
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 T milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3 large eggs, lightly beaten
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
Frosting, sparklng sugar and decorator sprinkles (optional)

Frosting:
1 box of powdered sugar
6 T milk
2 T vegetable oil; 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Food coloring (several drops)

Directions:
Directions:
Beat shortening, granulated sugar and brown sugar in large mixing bowl on medium speed until creamy,. Add milk and vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Combine flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt in separate large bowl. Add gradually to shortening mixture, beating until well blended. Cover and chill for 1 hour.
Heat oven to 350º. Roll out 1/3 of dough at a time on lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out shapes with floured 2 to 3 inch cookie cutters. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Sprinkle with sparkling sugars and decorator sprinkles if desired.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool on baking sheet 2 minutes. Remove to wire rack to cool completely. Frost and decorate as desired.

Frosting: Combine powdered sugar, milk, oil and vanilla, mixing until smooth. Add desired food coloring by the drops. Frost cooled cookies.
