1 c raisins (light or dark)
1 c water
½ c salad oil or shortening
1 c sugar
1¾ c sifted flour
¼ t baking soda
1 t cinnamon
1 t nutmeg
1 t allspice
½ t cloves
½ c chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Combine raisins and water. Bring to boiling and remove from heat. Stir in oil and cool until lukewarm. Stir in sugar and egg. Sift together the dry ingredients. Then beat into the raisin mixture. Stir in nuts. Pour batter into greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 375º for 20 minutes or until done. Cool - cut in bars - frost.
