German Chocolate Pound Cake

1 bar German Sweet Chocolate
2 cups sugar
1 cup crisco shortening
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 teaspoon butter flavoring
1 cup buttermilk
3 cups sifted all purpose flour
¼ teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon salt

Directions:
Melt chocolate over hot water. Remove, stir and cool. Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, butter flavoring, vanilla extract and buttermilk. Sift together flour, soda and salt. Add to shortening mixture. Mix well. Blend in chocolate. Pour into well greased and floured bundt pan. Bake in 300 º degree oven for 1½ hours. Remove from pan while still hot and place under tightly fitting cover until thoroughly cooled. If desired glaze with the Chocolate Glaze
 

Chocolate Glaze


Ingredients:

2 squares unsweetened chocolate
2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons hot milk
1 1/2 cups sifted confectioner's sugar
dash of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter and chocolate together over hot water. Combine milk, sugar and salt in small bowl. Add chocolate mixture gradually, blending well. While chocolate glaze is still warm pour from tablespoon over cooled cake letting it dribble down sides.
