2 pkg. yeast
1 cup lukewarm water
1 cup milk (110º to 115º)
1/2 cup shortening
2/3 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs, beaten
3 cups flour
Approximately 4 more cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Combine yeast and lukewarm water and allow to stand 10 minutes. Add warm milk and flour to yeast and beat well.

Cream shortening, sugar and salt. Add beaten eggs and then add enough flour (approximately 4 more cups) for stiff dough. Knead until smooth.

Place in greased bowl and let rise until double. Punch down and let rise again. Roll about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into doughnuts. Let rise on floured cookie sheets about 1/2 hour. Fry in hot oil and coat with sugar or glaze.
