1/2 cup warm water
1 pkg. dry yeast
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
6 to 6 1/2 cups flour
3 Tbsp. sugar
3/4 cup shortening
2 cups buttermilk (or sweet milk, plus 1 Tbsp, vinegar)
Butter

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yest in the water. Sift together the dry ingredients. Cut shortening into flour mixture. Then add combined buttermilk and yeast mixture. Mix into a soft dough. Store in the refrigerator. Pinch off as needed. Roll 1/2 inch thick. Cut into biscuits, dip in butter, and bake at 400º for 12 minutes.

These will keep in the refrigerator if tightly covered for 4 to 5 days. My friend Amy shared this recipe.
