2 cups milk

1/4 cup butter or margarine

2 eggs slightly beaten

1/2 cup sugar

1 tsp. ground cinnamon or nutmeg

1/4 tsp. salt

6 cups soft bread cubes (about 6 slices bread)

1/2 cup raisins

Whipping (heavy) cream if desired

Heat oven 350º

In 2 quart saucepan, heat milk and butter over medium heat until butter is melted and milk is hot.

In large bowl, mix eggs, sugar, cinnamon and salt. Stir in bread cubes and raisins. Stir in milk mixture. Pour into untreated deep round pan.

Bake uncovered 40 to 45 minutes or until knife inserted and comes out clean.

Serve warm with whipping cream or plain is fantastic.

NOTE: Many times I like to use leftover cinnamon buns, hamburger buns, just leftovers. Times have been tough in our lives and all the moms passed on all served bread pudding. Craisins can be used. Now if you have some dried apricot on hand, other dried fruit, give it all a go. All is well with the pudding.
