3/4 c. shortening (1part soft butter)
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1- 3 oz package Jello (not sugar-free), any flavor
1 tsp. vanilla


Directions:
Directions:
Mix thoroughly shortening, sugar, Jello, eggs and vanilla. Blend in dry ingredients. Roll dough into 3/4 inch balls. Place 3" apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten each with bottom of glass dipped in sugar. Heat oven to 400 degrees, bake for 6-8 minutes.

When using self-rising flour, omit baking powder and salt.

Gram Phillips made these in Christmas colors at the holidays, and Mom also had the recipe, which I have written in her handwriting It is signed as "Edith Lee", so she wrote it towards the latter part of her life.
