Ingredients: 1½ c. sifted powdered sugar 1 c. butter or margarine 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla ½ tsp. almond extract 2½ c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cream of tartar

Directions: |
Directions:Mix together the powdered sugar, butter, egg, vanilla and almond extracts in large mixing bowl. Sift the dry ingredients together and blend into the butter mixture in two parts. Roll very thin onto a floured board and cut with cookie cutters. Place onto lightly greased sheets and decorate with colored sugars. (Or bake and then decorate with icing afterward). Bake at 375º for about 7 minutes. (Don't brown!) |

Notes: Lee's Note: "The only sugar cookies I make - and always for Christmas. Dough handles beautifully and can be rolled very thin. Keeps well in the refrigerator. We prefer sugar instead of icing for decorations. These are fragile, light, crispy, melt-in-your-mouth fantastic! (I don't remember where I got this recipe)"
