Ingredients: 2 cups sugar 1 cup butter 1 tsp vanilla extract ½ tsp salt 2 eggs, slightly beaten 2⅔ cups all-purpose flour 2 tsp baking powder ¾ tsp baking soda

Directions: |
Directions:In a mixing bowl, cream sugar, butter, vanilla and salt until creamy. Then add eggs. Mix well. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda in a separate bowl. Slowly blend butter mixture and flour mixture. After combined, chill until firm (1 hour).
On a floured surface, roll dough ¼ inch thick. Cut out using cookie cutters. Place on greased sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 7-8 minutes or until light golden brown. |

Ingredients: 5 cups powdered sugar a little water 1 tsp of vanilla

Directions:Blend sugar, water and vanilla. Ice cookies and then decorate with assorted colored sugars, piping gel and candy toppings. |

Sometime around 2002-2003 Mom told me she just would not have time in her schedule to make Christmas cookies anymore, so I took over this task and have been making them ever since. Making them has been a fun time every single year, be it with friends, family or just on my own. Ultimately, having them enjoyed and talked about while you spend cherished time with family is the wonderful reward for the time put into this recipe.
