Directions:
Slice French loaf. Spread softened butter onto each piece
of bread. Sprinkle with Garlic salt. (can also mix diced fresh garlic into butter before spreading).
Place each buttered piece of bread onto cookie sheet. Heat broiler on oven.
Put cookie sheet with bread under the broiler.
Close the oven and assign someone to WATCH THE BREAD.
Begin to socialize with said assigned person (or anyone else hanging out in the kitchen) until billows of smoke plummet out of the oven.
Open oven and remove cookie sheet(s) of blackened bread. (air out the kitchen if needed)
Scrape the char and move on. If your lucky, its still eatable.
