1 cup shortening (Crisco)
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. soda
1 tbsp. cold water
2 cups cake flour
1 tsp. salt
2 cups rolled oats (probably NOT the quick version as this is an old recipe)
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
1 cup coconut
1 cup gumdrops

Directions:
Directions:
Beat together eggs, sugar, and shortening. Add vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in cold water and beat into mixture. Whisk together flour and salt. Gradually beat into egg/shortening mixture. Stir in oats, nuts, coconut, and gumdrops.
Bake at 350º for 10-12 minutes.

This was one of Jan's favorite recipes that Mother made...I'm not a fan of gumdrops but otherwise, liked the cookie a lot.
