"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous

Marshall’s Short Cut Macaroni
two Oxo cubes (or Marmite)
Cheddar, Romano or Parmesan cheese.

Directions:
As for a family recipe, nothing beats the old camping favorite of Marshall’s Short Cut Macaroni boiled al dente and then made savory by the addition of a thick concoction of two Oxo cubes dissolved in a little of the cooking water and served with loads of grated Cheddar, Romano or Parmesan cheese. In place of Oxo cubes you can use Marmite. This was a favorite of my sister and your Granny’s and I cook it from time to time when I’m homesick and want some comfort food. It’s best enjoyed with a glass of cold milk. Brings back memories of more austere times when money was tight. Let’s hope you two are spared such during a long, happy and prosperous life together.
