1 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
3 tsp. almond extract
2 2/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 375º.

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and almond extract, mix well. Add flour, baking powder and salt. Mix well.

Use 1/2 the dough for the "carpet" and half for two ropes out of a cookie press, two per carpet. Roll carpets about 1/4 inch thick. Bake 10 minutes.

Icing: 1 c. powdered sugar, 1/2 tsp. almond extract, two different food coloring (pink & green), and enough milk for spreading consistency. Start with 2 Tblsp. and add until thick but squirtable.

Cut cookies on the diagonal after icing is on.

The lightest, best cookie ever. Grandma used to send Mahlon a whole batch after he moved away from home. Always nice to be there on baking day because the ends were up for grabs.
