1/4 cup salted butter
2 1/2 cups milk
5 tbsp. all purpose flour
4 tsp of cracked or coarse ground black pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter. When foam goes down whisk flour in. Continue whisking until flour cooks and becomes a fragrant light brown. Slowly start whisking in the milk. Continue whisking to keep lumps from forming. Season with salt and pepper. Slow simmer about 10 minutes to cook and reduce to desired thickness.

For breakfast we use the same recipe for our sausage gravy and bisquits, but we brown 1/2 lb. pork sausage and add it in as gravy is thickening.
