Directions:
Peel and slice potatoes while warm. Place in and oven proof dish or crockpot. Add diced onions, salt & pepper to taste. Add bacon and bacon grease, stir until all is covered. Put sugar and vinegar in skillet you cooked bacon in bring to a boil. Pour over potatoes and toss well. Turn crock pot to low or warm or in oven on very low. Start several hours ahead or in the morning. Stir several times while cooking. Giving them several hours like this helps the potatoes to absorb all the flavors. This is great with Bavarian Pot Roast!

Personal Notes:
We got this recipe while attending Deutsch Country Days in Mathasville, MO many years ago. This is an authentic German recipe. It is really good. Ive also served it at barbecues. Ideal for outdoor dining since there are no dairy products.
