2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
1½ cups flour
3½ cups oatmeal
2 cups raisins
½ to ¾ cup peanut butter
¼ cup milk
¾ tsp salt
¾ tsp baking soda
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp vanilla
3 eggs

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350ºF

Measure and sift together dry ingredients; EXCEPT oatmeal and sugar. Set aside.

Put raisins in bowl and cover with boiling water to keep raisins from burning when baking.

Mix sugar, shortening, and peanut butter.

Beat in 3 eggs; add milk, vanilla, and gradually fold in dry ingredient mixture.

Drain and stir in raisins by hand.

Drop by well rounded teaspoon on UNGREASED cookie sheet.

Bake 8-10 minutes (Aunt Betsy usually bakes hers a little longer).

Yields about 5 dozen small cookies (Betsy noted, it doesn’t for her).
