1 3/4 cup sugar (1 cup for pie filling and 3/4 cup for meringue)
1/3 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup cocoa
2 cups milk
4 large egg (separated)
2 tbsp butter or margarine - melted and cooled
1 baked 9 inch pie crust
1/2 tsp cream of tartar

Directions:
Directions:
Combine 1 1/4 cups sugar, flour and cocoa in a heavy sauce pan. Combine milk, and egg yolks and melted butter using a wire whisk adding milk gradually. Stirring until smooth cook over medium heat stirring constantly until thick even and bubbly. About 10 minutes. Spoon into baked pie shell.
Beat egg whites and cream of tartar on high speed with 1/2 cup of sugar adding 1 tbsp at a time. Beat until stiff peaks form and sugar is dissolved (2-4 minutes). Spread over pie seal edge.
Bake at 325º for 25 minutes or until meringue is golden brown.
