1 c stone ground grits, white or yellow
2 c water
1 c milk
3 T butter
1 tsp hot pepper sauce
1 1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp pepper
2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Bring water and milk to a boil, add 1 1/2 tsp salt, hot pepper sauce and butter. Slowly add grits whisking to prevent clumping. Bring to a simmer and turn down heat, cook stirring constantly until grits are tender, add pepper and hot sauce, check for salt.
Remove from heat and slowly add cheese, stirring until melted and combined. The pepper sauce deepens and brings out the cheese flavor

I love to serve these anytime. They are great with rosemary bacon and a fried egg on top, with biscuits and jam or Scones.
