8 large cabbage leaves
1/2 pound ground beef
1/3 cup quick cooking rice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 can tomato soup or 2 cups tomato sauce

Directions:
Directions:
Cook cabbage for 2 minutes in boiling water. Drain.

Moisten the beef and rice mixture with about 1 tablespoon of the soup or sauce. Set the rest aside.

Put on each leaf 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture. Fold to enclose the meat, fasten with a toothpick or tie with thread to make a tight bundle.

Put in a deep pan. Add the rest of the soup or sauce. If using soup, add a can of water. Cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours or 20 minutes if you are using cooked meat and cooked rice.
