1/2 c butter 16 cherries chopped
2.25 c flour 1/2 c milk
1 c sugar 4 unbeaten egg whites
3 t salt 1/2 c chopped walnuts or pecans
1/4 c maraschino juice
Fluffy Frosting:
1 c sugar 1/4t creme of tartar
pinch salt 1/3 c water
1 T light corn syrup 1 egg white
1/2t vanilla
Directions:
Directions:
Stir butter to soften. Stir in dry ingredients with cherry juice and milk, mix until four is dampened- beat 2 minutes. Add egg whites one at a time beating another 2 minutes. Fold in nuts and cherries. Bake in paper lined layer cake tins for 20-25 minutes at 350ºF
Combine all ingredients except egg white and vanilla. Cook stirring until sugar is dissolved. Boil 5 min. Add syrup to unbeaten egg white and beat until frothy and spreadable. Add vanilla. Spread between layers top & sides of cake. Decorate with cherries.
