2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
2 c. rolled oats
1 tsp. vanilla
1 pkg chocolate chips (6 oz= 1 cup)
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. peanuts or walnuts (chopped)

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder. Set aside. In medium bowl, blend shortening and sugars. Add eggs. Stir in oats, chocolate chips, vanilla, and nuts. Chill dough. Drop by large teaspoons on cookies sheet. Bake 15 minutes at 350º.

Note: Cookie dough will be crumbly. To make, roll cookie dough into balls and place on cookie sheet.
