1¾ cups flour
½ tsp salt
2 cups uncooked rolled oats
½ cup shredded coconut
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup shortening
1/2 cup boiling water
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chocolate chips or 1 cup raisins (moistened)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix 1 cup brown sugar with 1 cup shortening. Stir in ½ cup boiling water. Add 1 tsp vanilla, then mix in dry ingredients. Stir in 1 cup of chocolate chips. Drop onto greased cookie sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes at 350°F.
