4 cups flour (Bluebird is good)
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 Tbsp shortening or lard
1 egg
3/4 - 1 cup lukewarm water

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour. Measure and sift again with baking powder and salt. Mix shortening or lard well with flour, using hands. Beat eggs, add water. Mix well and add to dough. Knead well. Divide into four parts. Roll about 1/18 inch thick. Cut into pieces about 3" squares. Fry in hot deep fat.
