3/4 cup shortening OR 1/2 cup oil
1 cup of sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening or use oil. If shortening is used, cool after melted.
Add sugar, egg, molasses, salt, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, and soda.
Add 2 cups flour. Mix well.
Shape into one inch balls.
Roll the balls in sugar.
Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 10-12 minutes.
