Cinnamon Butter Cookies Recipe

1 c butter, softened
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 T vanilla extract
1 egg lightly beaten
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour

Frosting:
2 cups confectioner's sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 T water

Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl of electric mixer, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in cinnamon and vanilla. Add egg. Beat for 1 minute. Gradually stir in flour. Cover and refrigerate until dough is firm and easy to handle, about 2 hours. Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface 1/4 inch thick. Cut out into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in 325º oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until edges just begin to brown. Cool on wire racks.
Frosting:
Stir together sugar, vanilla and water until smooth. Divide into 2 parts and color as desired.
