Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2-3 Hamhocks (or you can use more if you want more meat in the soup)
Navy Beans (1/2 tp 3/4 of the sack)
Onion (1) - shredded
Celery - (1/2 c chopped thinly) (optional)
2-3 Bay Leaves (do not need to use but Grandma does)

Directions:
Directions:
Put hamhocks in big heavy cooking pot filled with water (almost to the top) and bring to a boil. When water comes to a boil turn heat down and continue to cook hamhocks for 3-4 hrs or until hamhocks are tender and done. You do not need to cook at a rolling boil but the water should be almost boiling. When hamhocks are done take out of water (do not dump water) and put them in a colander or bowl to cool. When they are cool take meat off bones and cut meat up into bite size pieces. Add meat back into the water and cooking pot you used to cook hamhocks. (You might have to add more water to the original water so you have enough liquid). Add navy beans, onions, celery, Bay Leaves and simmer until beans are done - this could take up to an hour. Salt and pepper to taste. You can also add seasoning salt, garlic powder and whatever seasonings you like. When beans are done if you are not eating soup until later in the day, turn heat off and leave in pot until ready to eat. You can warm up by the bowl in the micowave later if you like or heat all the soup in the original pot. You could also freeze in smaller containers for later use.
