Directions:
Warm 2 cups milk and add 1/4 lb butter.Set aside and let it cool.
In a large bowl, put 3 cups very warm water(NOT BOILING) sugar, and yeast, mix gently and let sit.
When the milk and butter mixture us luke warm add the eggs and beat well.
Next add the yeast, water and sugar to the egg and milk mixture.
Slowly add flour enough to make a sft dough. Too much flour will make the doughnuts hard , too little flour will make the dough sticky and hard to handle.
Gently roll the dough out on a floured counter, or board about 3/4 " thick and cut out the doughnuts
Let the doughnuts sit and rise in a warm draft free space for 30 minutes or so.
Carefully fry doughnuts in 375º pan of vegetable oil. You should have a pan or kettle large enough for at least 4 inches of oil. Cook 3-5 doughnuts at a time, making sure that they get browned on both sides. Be careful not to prick them with a fork. Drain them on paper towels, or a brown paper bag.
To glaze the doughnuts, mix together confectioners sugar, and warm water until it is a syrup like consistency. Dunk each doughnut in the glaze and place on a baking rack to set.
