3 c. sugar
1/4 t. salt
1/2 c. Crisco
2 sticks margarine
5 large eggs
3 c. flour
1 small can milk - add water to make 1 c.
1 T. vanilla-butter-nut flavoring
1-1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 jar maraschino cherries, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortenings till fluffy, add sugar and salt. Beat in one egg at a time. Add flour and milk alternating, ending with flour. Add flavoring and nuts -or- 1 c. nuts and 1 jar maraschino cherries. Bake in greased (PAM) and floured bunt pan for 1 hour and 45 minutes at 325º. START IN COLD OVEN. Don't open door while baking.
Remove from pan while warm (let set on rack for 10 minutes after baking)
Dust with powdered sugar at serving time.

This cake has always been one of my favorites. Aunt Suzy (Eileen Turocy) makes them and they keep well in the freezer!!
