1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 cup sugar
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1/2 cup milk
2 Tbsp. melted shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1 3/4 cups hot water
Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Blend flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and 2Tbsp. cocoa. Stir in milk and shortening. Spread in a prepared 8 inch square pan.
Sprinkle with mixture of brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa. Pour hot water over entire batter. Bake 45 minutes. During baking, cake mixture rises to top and chocolate sauce settles to bottom. Cut into squares and invert onto plate. Spoon sauce over. Can serve with ice cream or whipping cream.
