1 1⁄2 c. evaporated milk
1 1⁄2 c. sugar
4 slightly beaten egg yolks
3/4 c. butter
1 1⁄2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. shredded coconut
1 1⁄2 c. chopped pecans

This is the frosting for the German Chocolate Cake recipe.

Directions:
Combine evaporated milk, sugar, slightly beaten egg yolks, butter or margarine and vanilla in saucepan.

Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened. Remove from heat.
Stir in shredded coconut and chopped pecans. Cool until thick enough to spread.

Note: For the icing to thicken, cook 12 minutes whisking constantly, let cool and for best results, stick it in the fridge for a few hours (I usually let the icing sit in the fridge overnight). It will be the perfect consistency to work with.
Yield: 4 1/4 cups
