Notes: This is my Grandma Lutz's chocolate cake recipe from WWII. It is unique because it does not use eggs. Eggs were in short supply and rationed during WWII so she created this recipe. Grandma would make this cake almost everyday. It was always a treat when Grandma was staying at our house to come home from school in the afternoon to have a slice of this warm cake fresh out of the oven. By the way, Grandma very rarely frosted this cake, she would sprinkle a little powdered sugar on top when it came out of the over - yummy! You can frost it if desired.
