1 ½ c. flour
½ c. cocoa
¼ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. baking soda
½ c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 ½ tsp. vanilla
1 bottle (10 oz.) maraschino cherries (about 48 cherries)
1 6-oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ c. (1/2 can) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Sift flour, cocoa, salt, baking powder and soda into a large bowl; set aside.
In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy and light.
Add egg and vanilla; mix well.
Gradually add sifted dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Blend well.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Press centers down with thumb.
Drain cherries; save juice. Place a cherry in center of each cookie.
In a small non-stick pan, combine chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk.
Heat until chocolate is melted. Stir in 4 tsp. cherry juice.
Spoon about 1 tsp. frosting over each cherry, spreading to cover the cherry. (If too thick, add more juice.)
Bake frosted cookies for 6-8 minutes.
