1 cup molasses
1 cup sugar
1 cup shortening
½ cup milk
1 egg
1 tsp salt
2 tsp soda
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cloves
4 ½ cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening. Add molasses and mix well. Add dry ingredients. Roll flat ( about ¼ inches thick). Cut with your favorite cookie cutter. Bake at 350 degrees for 9 to 10 minutes. This can be cooled in the fridge for several hours before baking. This makes it easier to handle.
