2-3 lb. beef pot roast (brisket or chuck)
2 T. oil
1 can condensed onion soup
1 pkg. dry onion soup mix
1/2 c. apple butter
1/3 c. water
1/8 tsp. ground clove
1 lb. carrots, cut-up
1 lb. turnips, cut-up
6 stalks celery, cut-up
Flour, as needed

Directions:
Directions:
Brown meat in hot oil; remove excess fat. In a separate bowl, combine onion soup, dry soup mix, cloves, apple butter and water. Put meat in crockpot; pour soup mixture over meat. Cook on low for about 3 hours. Add vegetables and cook for another 4-5 hours. Thicken broth with flour. (Mix 2 T. flour with 1/2 c. cooled broth and stir into crockpot mixture) Cook until thickened.
