1 c self rising flour
1/2 c to 3/4 c sugar, based on how sweet you want it
2 T cocoa and another 1/4 (be sure to read preparation below)
1/2 c milk
2T oil
1t vanilla
3/4 c brown sugar
2 c hot water

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º In an ungreased pan, stir flour, white sugar, 2 T cocoa,and mix well. Stir in the milk, oil and vanilla and spread evenly into 8 inch square pan. Sprinkle on the brown sugar, 1/4 c cocoa. Pour hot water over batter. Do not stir! Bake 40 minutes. Let stand 15 minutes. Spoon sauce side up and serve with ice cream.

I got this from a dear friend years ago. It was an instant hit. What is so nice about this recipe, is that when you don't have anything in the house but these staples, then you can still fix a dessert. I have never tried to use walnut pieces in it, but I guess that it can be tried. Another thing. Just one pan and no bowls to wash.
