Cucumbers (yellow big)
Alum
Salt
Water
Light brown sugar
Vinegar
Cinnamon
whole cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Put alum in 1 qt warm water to dissolve
Peel, section and scrape out cucumbers
Soak in 1 T salt to 1 qt water (about 4T-4 qt. water) overnight
Drain, boil in 1 oz powdered alum to 1 qal. water until transparent (about 20 minutes)
While boiling cucumbers cook 3 1/2 C light brown sugar, 1 qt. vinegar - in net bag put 1/2 stick cinnamon and 2T whole cloves tie with string drop in to vinegar and sugar mixture (20 minutes.)
Strain/drain and rinse cucumbers (warm water).
Pour mixture over cucumbers - let stand 3 days.
Turn often. Heat to boiling and pack in hot jars.
