5-7 tart apples
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons butter
dash of salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Prepare 2 pie crusts for pastry. Reserve a small about for topping
Line 10 1/2x 6 1/2 oblong baking dish with pastry. Prepare remaining pastry for top crust.
Heat oven to 400º
Pare apples and slice very thin.
Mix sugar, flour, salt, spices and add to apples. Stir lightly until all are coated.
Fill baking dish with apples.
Add 1/2 cup water for juice.
Dot with small dots of pastry.
Dot with small dots of butter.
Place on top crust.
Sprinkle with sugar and little dots of butter.
Bake for 50 minutes.
