1 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons shortening (lard or butter)
1/4 cup ice cold sweet milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together with a knife until crumbly.
Add a sufficient amount of ice cold sweet milk to make a soft dough.
Keep as cold as possible and handle lightly.
Roll very thin.
Fold over half and then quarter. Roll again. (this makes it flakey).
The milk makes a finer pastry than water.

The pie crust recipe is from Grandma Thomason and how she taught my mother and my aunts.
My mother always referred to milk as "sweet milk" as compared to buttermilk which is "sour".
Shortening was either lard or butter both of which were made at home.
