1 small onion chopped
2 tbsp. of salad oil
2 tbsp. of red wine or cider vinegar
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1/4 c. water
2 tbsp. of ketchup
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. hot pepper sauce
1.5 lb. beef flank steak or London broil

Directions:
Directions:
Mix first 8 ingredients in a gallon size freezer bag. Add the steak. Place bag in the refrigerator, turning periodically until ready to cook. Marinate your steak for up to 24 hours.
When ready to cook remove steak from bag, and save any remaining marinade. Broil or grill the steak for 5 minutes on each side, brushing with marinade as needed.
Remove steak from grill or oven when you have reached your desired doneness. Let steak rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Slice against the grain diagonally when ready to serve.

This recipe has been learned from Mom and all of us have made it. It is very versatile and can be served with a variety of sides such as rice , noodles or potatoes. I like to make it and serve it over a green salad.
