1/2 lb butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 T corn syrup
2 t soda powder
1 egg
3 1/4 c flour
1 T cinnamon
1 T ginger
1 T cloves
1/4 c orange juice
1 t orange rind
Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour, baking soda, and spices. Cream butter with sugar. Add syrup and egg. Add dry ingredients. Mix until blended. Turn on to lightly floured board. Cut into shapes. bake in moderate oven until brown - about 375*. Some other recipes call for 425* or eve 275*, so whatever your oven does best! Options: Sprinkle with colored sugar before baking, or lightly frost with powdered sugar glaze after baking.
